Fifteen years ago to the day, I started this blog with a post entitled, appropriately enough, Welcome. In that post, I introduced myself, SilverTiger, my partner, Tigger, and our late lamented and much loved cat, Freya. Subsequent posts were to recount our outings and travels, along with any other topics I thought worthy of mention. The blog was begun as an experiment and I couldn’t have imagined in September 2006 that I would still be blogging, a decade and a half later, or that the blog would have become such an important part of my life.
In the years since that tentative beginning, the world has changed and so, in consequence, have we. The blog, too, has changed, reflecting the changes in our lives. Who knows what changes lie ahead, affecting the world, our lives and the blog?
During my blogging career, I have started three blogs. Apart from this one, I maintained a parallel blog on Blogger, also called SilverTiger, until its closure in 2012, and, from July 2019, SilverTiger at home and abroad, originally started as an independent blog but now running in parallel to this one. My main focus is again on this blog and will remain on it for the foreseeable future.
And what of that future? As the pandemic has shown clearly enough, we do not know what changes lie around the next corner, ready to transform our lives, sometimes in major ways. For now, I can say that I intend to go on blogging and maintaining this blog.
The blog and its blogger form only one part of the equation. Just as important are the people who drop by to read the blog. If they click “like” or add a comment, this is of immense value as it provides encouragement and the pleasant feeling that one’s words are being read and appreciated and are not wafting away unnoticed into the ether. My sincere thanks, therefore, to all those of you who visit my blog and my best wishes to you for now and the future.
Here’s to the next 15 years!
