Drought breaks

Yes, there’s been a bit of a drought lately where courier runs are concerned. We were therefore happy to learn today that we are off on a run on Friday.

I will of course provide an account of our trip in due course but in the meantime, here are a couple of clues which might help you guess our destination.

Guardian lion
Guardian lion

This lion is rather splendid, isn’t he? He looks severe and confident, obviously believing that his presence alone is sufficient to keep trouble at bay. He’s pretty unique and if you know him, you will know where we’re going.

He decorates the front of a building in the city we are visiting. The building serves the purpose of a city hall but, in this city is called something else. When you think about it, the name makes sense, but it strikes one as odd because in modern times, the term has come to mean something quite different.

Unfortunately, there are no prizes for the right answer but by all means take a guess if you want to.

As you will see from the entry for June 11th, our courier run was to Nottingham. If you know Nottingham, you may have recognized the lion.

This lion, with his companion, guards the entrance of the Council House, whose role is usually ascribed to the Town Hall in other cities.
