LiveJournal still hanging fire

Twenty-four hours having passed since my complaint, and my complaint still being listed as “open”, I took another look at the LiveJournal site and discovered a channel for reporting abuse. I accept that that is a more appropriate channel for my complaint of copyright abuse than technical support. See Still scraping.

As I filled in the form, I became increasingly dubious that any effective action will be taken. For one thing, in order to proceed with the report, it is necessary to tick some boxes to show your acceptance of the terms. The killer would seem to be this one:

Do you understand that the user who is allegedly violating your copyright has the right to file a statement that he or she believes that no violation has taken place, at which point LiveJournal is no longer obligated to act in the situation and you will need to pursue private legal action?
Yes, I understand.

In other words, if the miscreant states that no abuse has taken place, then LiveJournal considers itself freed from any further obligation to act. That, surely, is completely unacceptable.

I await the outcome with interest and will report what happens.
